On the moral decay of the Dutch hacker scene A lot has changed since the days when the people around Hacktic set up and defined the Dutch hacker scene. The Hang Out made way for a variety of hackerspaces; Hacktic itself is long dead (who needs dead trees to communicate nowadays anyway?) and the crew organizing OHM2013 is a completely different one from the oldies that had set up the Galactic Hacker Party and HIP. In short, we're looking at a complete new generation of Dutch hackers.

Inspired by Philippe Aigrain's Sharing, I got curious about the way different media and distribution methods have an impact on the diversity of content. In section 3.2 of his book, there's an interesting summary of how p2p networks have a much higher diversity of attention then regular (commercial) distribution channels. That is, instead of everyone downloading the same top-5 chart hits or blockbusters, in p2p networks we see attention going to a much broader variety of content.

PUSCII's latest project, The Marx Generator, is up and running. The Marx Generator reads out to twitter from Karl Marx' classic Das Kapital. Readings last roughly half an hour and are held three times per day, starting at 10.00, 14.00 and 20.00 CET. You ask why? It's all explained on the about page:
